Sunspeker, a start-up active in the development of innovative films for the aesthetic photovoltaic sector, announces that it has obtained €470,000 in financing from the Corporate division of UniCredit Torino Sud, a transaction that represents a fundamental step in supporting Sunspeker’s industrial development.
The funding was provided following the first phase of the capital increase that took place last June with a €650,000 equity crowdfunding campaign, providing the start-up with additional resources of over €1.12 million. Based between Turin and Canavese, Sunspeker now aims to accelerate the adoption of its patented See Beyond technology, innovative films for photovoltaics that can be applied in multiple industrial sectors: construction, automotive, defence and, soon, aerospace, thanks to strategic collaborations with private companies and internationally renowned research centres.
The transaction was made possible thanks to guarantees provided by the Central Guarantee Fund managed by Mediocredito Centrale (Invitalia), with the support of the European Investment Fund (EIF), the European Union’s Next Generation EU programme and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.
“This financing represents an important sign of confidence and solidity in our industrial project,” said Fabrizio Chiara, CEO of Sunspeker, in a statement. “We are grateful to Francesca Meotto, Alessandra Minutilli and Basilio Petrolo of the UniCredit team for their support and contribution to the success of the operation.”
With a vision focused on internationalisation and sustainability, Sunspeker confirms its position as one of the most promising players in the Italian and European renewable energy landscape. The company is currently attending Climate Tech Week in New York at the Italian corner of ICE, and in the coming weeks it will take part in Solar Solutions Torino, Italian Tech Week and Solar and Storage Live Italia, all events focusing on innovation, sustainability and renewable energy.
