This week Berlin is hosting the first European edition of the Gitex event, which originated in Dubai and is expanding internationally (here are reports from the latest editions in Dubai and Marrakesh), almost at the same time the Italian Embassy in the German capital is also dedicating space to the startup ecosystem.
‘What is important,’ Francesco Cerruti, general director of the Italian Tech Alliance, anticipates to Startupbusiness, ‘is to demonstrate the compactness of our ecosystem and to show how in Italy we are determined to work together to support innovation. This is not an Italian Tech Alliance initiative, but an initiative of the entire ecosystem with institutional support and collaboration between the public and private sectors’.
The event covers topics such as deeptech with Jan Borgstädt, founding partner of Join Capital, Costanza Carissimo, investment director of Cathay Innovation, Giorgio Dell’Erba director of industrial partnerships and tech transfer of Fondazione Chips-IT, Gianluca Dettori chairman and partner of Primo Capital and Stefano Peroncini CEO of Eureka! Venture, and climatech with Luisa Candido innovation specialist of Terna, Leonardo Massa investment director of Mito Technology, Laura Möller, director K.I.E.Z., Cristina Tomassini head of Green transition Fund of CDP Venture Capital, Danijel Višević general partner of World Fund.
Four start-ups are presenting their projects here, namely DAMō with its co-founder and CEO Selene Micheletti, Mespac with Edoardo Pasta who is CSO and head of data science, BigProfiles.ai with CEO Lorenzo Luce and scaleup Contents with sales and marketing director Alain Baburgian.
“We have chosen deeptech and climatetech because we believe they are two key issues at the moment both at national and European level, they are also joined by the security and defence theme that is experiencing a strong acceleration in Italy as well as in Germany, we are working to be present on the global playing field and to give our companies and our ecosystem opportunities for visibility, this time in Germany,” Cerruti concludes.
The event will also be attended by the Italian Ambassador in Berlin Fabrizio Bucci and Matthias Notz, Start2 Group’s Global CEO, who will bring their contributions in the form of opening greetings the former and closing remarks the latter. (photo by Levin on Unsplash)
