€800,000 round for beauty tech company Dermaself

Dermaself, a start-up that has developed an artificial intelligence-based agent to analyse skin and balance the ingredients of any product, providing personalised routines via an app, widgets and totems in stores, has announced that it has closed an €800,000 seed round in two tranches, with the aim of optimising its technology and expanding it to include spots and wrinkles as well as other imperfections such as pimples.

The transaction, structured entirely in equity, involves Personae (welfare accelerator of the CDP Venture Capital National Network, created in collaboration with SocialFare and a|cube), CDP Venture Capital, Urban Venture, Derming and a number of strategic business angels.

Thanks to this capital increase, Dermaself will expand its tech and marketing team, optimise its AI platform, and plans to launch both a B2B e-commerce application and a B2C mobile app to become a beauty identity provider. Today, the company has a community of 14,000 people, over 6,000 users and 300 customers, with a turnover of approximately €45 million in pre-orders for the e-commerce application, and partnerships with the Politecnico di Milano and the Politecnico di Torino for technological developments.

“We want to make personalised, scientific dermatology accessible, reducing waste and returns in the beauty industry. With Dermaself, a selfie becomes an act of informed care, for the skin and for the planet,” says Elena Setaro, CEO and co-founder of Dermaself, pictured here with the team.

“Dermaself’s mission aligns perfectly with Personae’s values: innovation at the service of individual and community well-being, with an inclusive and flexible approach. Dermaself represents one of the most advanced and accessible solutions in the beauty tech landscape, with proprietary technology that combines precision and personalisation,” says Stefano Molino, head of accelerator funds at CDP Venture Capital.
