DoctorApp and Banca dello Sport join forces to ensure everyone has access to physical activity

DoctorApp reinforces its commitment alongside the Fondazione Banca delle Visite by supporting the Banca dello Sport project, which offers children and young people in financial difficulty the opportunity to participate in physical activities. This support combines technology and solidarity to promote a healthy lifestyle from an early age.

“We have always believed that digital technology could improve access to healthcare,” explains Alessandro Giraudo, CEO and founder of DoctorApp, in a statement. “In this case, we want to go one step further by entering the world of sport with the same spirit of solidarity that guides us in the healthcare sector.” Children who cannot afford to enrol in a sports activity or pay for a competitive medical examination will finally be able to access these services, thanks to a virtuous support network. Sport, like health, should never be a privilege.

The initiative is part of the activities promoted by Banca dello Sport to promote the project, which aims to make sporting activities accessible to those in fragile economic and social conditions. This is thanks to collaboration with sports associations that can offer reduced rates and the possibility of covering medical costs through donations from those who wish to support this mission and the collaboration of doctors who can offer consultations at a reduced cost.

“Sport is a powerful tool for inclusion, education and prevention,” emphasises Michela Dominicis, president of Banca delle Visite. “With DoctorApp, we want to expand the reach of this initiative and offer children not only the opportunity to exercise and have fun, but also to feel part of a community. cultivating physical well-being and self-confidence. It is a right that we feel must be guaranteed to everyone, without exception.

The constitutional reform of 2023 added the following sentence to Article 33 of the Constitution: “The Republic recognises the educational, social and psychological well-being benefits of sporting activities in all their forms.” This is a fundamental recognition, especially after the effects of the pandemic, which had a heavy impact on emotional and social well-being, hitting young people, lonely people and the elderly particularly hard. Sport plays a decisive role in strengthening the immune system: for children, regular physical activity reduces the risk of childhood obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and chronic conditions in adulthood.

The mechanism is simple: thanks to the DoctorApp platform, many citizens will be able to take advantage of the agreement by accessing the useful services of the app, where they will find a specific banner that will take them directly to the Foundation’s contact details.

The partnership, which also includes an initial donation of services by DoctorApp, represents a concrete model of circular social welfare. A new chapter in solidarity visits, this time in the form of football, dance, swimming or martial arts. Organisations such as the Red Cross, Caritas, local sports and social associations, and the social services departments of local councils themselves will be able to play an active role by referring vulnerable users. For requests that come directly from the web, thanks in part to DoctorApp, the Foundation will verify the requirements (ISEE below €12,000 or proven need).

“The aim of the project is to ensure greater psychological and physical well-being in order to combat social isolation and youth distress, both individually and at community level. DoctorApp couldn’t pass up the opportunity to offer its contribution and support and promote such a noble cause,” adds Giraudo.
